What to Do with Old Furniture When You Buy New

Let’s say your bed frame broke or you want to replace your other furniture with a new Campania collection. Do you throw it away or sell it? Or do you want to make it into other useful things? At one point we will have to say goodbye to our old furniture and buy new items. But what do we do with the old ones? There are several useful things we can make of them even if we already purchased a replacement – whether it is a bed, a sofa or a cabinet.

Side table

You can create a small bedside table from a larger table that you no longer need. It can either be wood or wrought iron. If you keep several things by your bedside, you can fit it with a small drawer to store your valuables within easy reach.

Bookcase

Old wooden furniture can be turned into a bookshelf for book lovers. Now you don’t have to put your books just anywhere in the house because you will have a lovely bookcase to put them in. You can paint it with a color that will pop or blend with the interior of the room.

Vanity

You can make a small vanity and fit it with a mirror for your bedroom out of old wooden furniture. A small drawer that can fit your makeup and other personal stuff will help you organize little things in the vanity.

Candleholder

An old wrought iron appliance can become an elegant candle holder for your dining table, on top of the fireplace or the table in the living room. You will need to weld the iron though, so you will need the assistance of a professional welder to create the candelabra.

Plant stand

Another wrought iron creation is a plant stand. If you are fond of displaying potted plants in and outside your house, you can turn a piece of old iron furniture into a plant stand. It is perfect for the doorway to welcome guests.

Trunk

You can make a wooden trunk to store your things in. You can even put it at the base of your bed for decoration and storage.

Dollhouse and other wooden toys

You can make a dollhouse for your child using wood from an old cabinet or drawer. You can also make other toys made of wood. You can turn the cushions from a couch into small beds and pillows for the dollhouse.

Chessboard

Fond of playing board games? You can make a custom chess board for your family to enjoy.

Pet beds

Create a small version of your bed for your pet, and fit it with cushions from an old couch. Your pet will always have a good sleep on its bed.

Don’t be too quick to toss out your old furniture. Even if you are not handy with this kind of project, you can hire someone to repurpose things.
