Paradise—that’s the shortest and best way to describe the beauty of the Seven Mile Beach in the Grand Cayman Island. The name may be a bit deceiving as this beach with white powdery sands stretches only for 5.5 miles, however, it’s still nothing short of beautiful. It has been voted as “The Caribbean’s Best Beach” and there’s no wonder why. With its turquoise water, breathtaking views, and a hundred activities to do on the island—you’ll surely fall in love with this beach over and over again.
With an endless list of possible things to do in the Grand Cayman Islands, we have rounded up some of the things that you can do in Seven Mile Beach to make your stay more memorable:
- Try parasailing
Parasailing is the activity where you are attached to an open parachute as you are being towed by a motorboat running at full speed. As it does, you will be ascended into the air where you can enjoy the adrenaline rush. With Seven Mile Beach’s crystal waters, why limit yourself to drone shots when you can enjoy the view from above by parasailing? Pick a partner so you can enjoy the salty air and wind on your face as you slowly feel your body being lifted out of the water and into thin air, where you can see the entirety of the beach and the horizon.
- Participate in watersports
Luckily for you, this beach boasts tons of watersports that you can try for the first time: flyboarding, wake surfing, water skiing, and tubing. A flyboard, which is a hydro flight device which shoots you up to 50 feet into the air by expelling water underneath you, is also a form of watersports. If you haven’t tried it yet before, you can get beginner lessons from three of the world-ranked flyboarders so they can show you how it’s done, and next thing you know, you’ll be boasting your mad skills by doing aerial flips and spins before you fall back into the water. By nighttime, they host incredible performances from the professionals themselves.
- Go snorkeling with the fishes and stingrays
What’s the best thing to do aside from swimming by the beach with your friends? Swimming with fishes and stingrays! The Cayman Islands protect its delicate ecosystem of marine life and they educate tourists by encouraging them to experience swimming at a whole new level—swimming with the marine culture. All you need is a snorkeling set to see the life underneath the sparkling surface of the water and there, you can swim close with the stingrays and thousands of other tropical fishes. You can also reach the barrier reef and from there, you can even go on a private tour to see the sleeping iguanas.
- Enjoy drinking your cocktails at the beach bar
During the evening, have a sip of your favorite cocktail by the beach. Most of Grand Cayman’s condominiums, resorts, and hotels are located near Seven Mile Beach and you are bound to see lots of bars flocked with tourists and locals themselves. Sway your hips to the beat of the music with unlimited drinks as you bask in the opportunity to meet new people and learn more about the island and its secret spots by mingling with the locals. If there’s anybody who knows how to do a beach party right—it’s the Caribbeans themselves.
- Explore the Kittiwake Shipwreck by scuba diving
Sunk at the bottom of the sea to become an artificial reef for marine life, the Kittiwake Shipwreck used to be a US Navy Vessel which now serves as the home for the coral reefs and fishes alike. The interior has been redesigned to accommodate scuba divers who wish to explore the premises of the shipwreck. Inside the ship, the tables and chairs are still intact where it now looks like it has been frozen in time. For just $18, you can scuba dive and explore the shipwreck where you can ultimately be taken back 50 years into the past.
Undeniably, there is a lot more to do at the Seven Mile Beach, whether it’s reading a book under the shade of a palm tree, playing beach volleyball with the locals, or going for a run with some of the local dogs—you’ll never run out of things to do. The Seven Mile Beach is where you can find relaxation and an adrenaline rush, and it’s amazing just how this makes the Cayman Brac and Caymen Islands more exciting to visit and all the more reason why everyone should have it on their travel bucket list.
