We all want our homes to be clean every day of the year, but when it comes to actual cleaning we tend to be more reluctant. Most people already have their checklists to help them not forget a step in the cleaning process.
Homeowners should have at least one day every month to deep clean their home. This involves much more than just dusting here and there – it involves reaching places that we tend to neglect throughout most of the year. The easiest way to keep your home clean year-long is to have a detailed cleaning at least once every month and then do daily cleaning here and there to pick up any mess you leave behind you.
As there’s always something you can learn from a professional, we spoke to the cleaning experts at Reliable Cleaning Colorado about spring cleaning. They gave us a few incredible tips and tricks we want to share with you so your cleaning is as quick and easy as possible.
Don’t Forget the Refrigerator
Due to an occasional leak and spill, we tend to clean our refrigerator more often than once a year. Still, deep cleaning is an ideal excuse to give your refrigerator a proper detailing. All parts of the refrigerator deserve your love, and there’s no better time for a thorough cleaning than right now.
You should start with the inside of the fridge, more specifically the contents. Make sure you check all the expiration dates and throw out everything that is long overdue. After you’ve cleaned out the fridge, remove the drawers and shelves and thoroughly clean them using your favorite cleaner.
Wipe the fridge exterior with a soft cloth and don’t forget the top of the fridge. This is likely where you’ll find the most dust and grime, so you might want to swipe through it a couple of times. Last, of all, clean the fan blades and condenser coils but make sure to unplug the fridge before.
Rearrange The Garage, Attic or Other Storage Rooms
Does your storage unit (garage, attic or any other room) look more like a junkyard than a part of a home? If so, you might want to focus some of your energy on decluttering this area. Sort out all the items you have stored, and label them. Decide which items you can sell, which items you can donate and which ones you want to keep and organize.
There’s an enormous chance you’re not using some of the old scooters, helmets and bikes and other items you’ve forgotten about. After you’ve cleaned out the clutter, organize the rest. Don’t forget to pack the winter essentials like the shovels or the snowblower.
Detail the Oven
If your oven has a self-cleaning function, you probably haven’t done this in a while. This function burns the grime and debris in the oven at an extremely high temperature, which has strong odors and smoke as a side-effect.
Unlike that, old-school scrubbing is a good way to remove all the stuff you don’t want in there. To make this easier, experts use a mix of vinegar and baking soda powerful enough to eliminate even the most persistent stains. Let the solution stay overnight and use a sponge to wipe it away the next day.
Make the Windows Transparent Again
Everyone has a different approach to window washing, but the simple way is usually the best one. Use dish soap and warm water solution with a sponge. Wipe away the dirt from the outside using a microfiber cloth and soapy water. Another great way to clean the windows is using an old newspaper.
