Indian Railways have decided to run an exhibition train dedicated to Nobel laureate Mother Teresa, giving an insight into her life devoted to poor and destitute. Named ‘Mother Express’, the train will be flagged off by Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee from Kolkata on Thursday, coinciding with Mother Teresa’s 100 birthday, traversing the length and breadth of the country for the next six months.
Besides this, leading publisher Amar Chitra Katha is set to release publishing a comic book about Mother Teresa.
While several events have been planned to celebrate Mother Teresa’s 100th birthday across the globe, New York in United States will be the city decked the most with the colours of Missionaries of Charity.
The landmark Times Square will have marquees and hoardings up on Thursday, Aug 26 evening in white and blue. Named the Great White Way, bright neon lights will light up the city’s celebrations.
However, the iconic Empire State Building has opted out of the citywide celebrations of the Mother’s life.
