Liquefied Petroleum Gas, has been widely used for households in India. It is easy to use & store. Indian Oil launched LPG in India in advance 1970s under the brand name Indane which has now become the largest brand in LPG. Indane has over 45 area offices to make contact with customer demands. In every second household of India, the gas cylinder connection is of Indane.
Getting a new connection is an easy task but you should be aware of the protocol to be followed to avoid any delay. Indane Gas services are available via a web portal, SMS or IVRS (Interactive Voice Response System). To apply for a new gas connection, there are various modes of application that are as follows –

India, with the advancement in technology, has been moving forward towards digitization.
The Indian Oil Corporation has introduced :
SAHAJ (e-Sv) (electronic subscription voucher) it is an initiative which enables the prospective customer to register, make an online payment for availing LPG connection at their doorstep.
LPG connection document is sent by email to the customer directly.
Customer can book a gas cylinder using the website, app or IVRS. They will be required to provide details such as the 17 digit LPG ID, PAN card number, customer number and the contact address. Following are the steps to be followed for getting a new gas connection online –
- Log onto the Indane gas portal using the user ID and password.
- Fill the form to book a gas cylinder and then click on submit to place an order.
- You can also track the status of your booking online, and pay directly to the distributor or delivery person at the time of delivery.
- The customer registers for a new LPG gas connection by completing the online KYC and uploading the documents – POA and POI.
- Indane Gas will check the intercompany DE-duplication of KYC document. For all the applications that have cleared the DE-duplication, a waiting list is created.
- After verification of the submitted KYC details in opposition to the POA and POI, the waiting list is released to the distributors.
- The customer will be notified by an email or SMS. Now the applicant should move forward with their request, to select the suitable mode of payment.
- Customer can make an online payment by selecting the mode of payment: Debit card, net banking.
The process to apply Indane New Gas connection offline
- The customer can apply for a new gas connection by the offline method also, by visiting the nearest distributor’s office.
- Find the nearest distributor by taking aid from the Indane Gas portal. You can also contact the Indane gas customer care to find out the nearest service station.
- Distributor may ask you to submit a completely filled in application along with the KYC documents like POI or POA.
- A confirmation email or SMS will be sent on the registered mobile number, notifying about the successful registration of a new gas connection. You can also check/track the status of your application online at the Indane Gas LPG portal.
Documents required for new gas connection
- Aadhaar Card
- Driving License
- Voter ID
- Electricity bill, water bills, Recent telephone bill.
- LIC policy
- House registration document
- Passport
- PAN card
- Bank account statement or credit card statement
Applying by SMS
Customer can send an SMS from their registered mobile number or using the IVRS service to book a gas cylinder and visiting the nearest distributor’s office.
Applying by phone application (app) –
- Download the Indane gas app on your mobile phones.
- To activate the app, enter details such as the LPG distributor code, consumer number and the mobile number.
- Once all details are entered, click on submit.
- A code will be sent to the registered mobile number via SMS. Every customer needs to choose a security code which will be entered every time the applicant logs into the app.
- After this, book a refill and the reference details such as reference number will be shared with you.
