Gift Baskets Were Offered to Cancer Patients Throughout the U.S. by People Who Joined the Kindness Campaign

Over one million and a half people in the U.S. are diagnosed with cancer every year. Malignant diseases, regardless of their type and severity, do not only have devastating effects on patients’ physical health, but on their psychological and emotional state as well. Receiving a cancer diagnosis often brings about radical changes concerning lifestyle, personal relationships, career and family dynamics, so benefiting from a strong support system during the entire journey is crucial. Moreover, the distressing symptoms associated with cancer and the side effects of certain treatments can sometimes prevent people suffering from a malignant disease from performing even the simplest activities. Fatigue, pain and nausea are unfortunately experienced by the majority of cancer patients and thereby, having someone who can constantly help them with daily tasks is also essential.

However, numerous cancer patients are completely alone throughout their struggle. Not benefitting from the help and support of their families or friends can easily result in a very poor quality of life. Because they have no one to take care of them during difficult moments, both their health and emotional wellbeing are greatly affected. The Kindness Campaign was initiated by Environmental Litigation Group, P.C. as an attempt to improve cancer patients’ quality of life and make them feel valued for at least one day. Within the past three months, hundreds of people from all across the U.S. have enthusiastically participated in the program, willing to dedicate their time and energy to helping people suffering from cancer and ultimately putting a smile of their faces.

The amazing people who joined the campaign sponsored by Environmental Litigation Group, P.C. thoughtfully arranged baskets filled with fresh fruits, raw vegetables and many other practical items, such as blankets, tea, robes and personal hygiene products, and delivered them to cancer patients at one of their local hospitals. Some of the participants also cooked healthy meals as a gift, which were greatly appreciated by the recipients, as preparing food often becomes a challenging or downright impossible task for people struggling with malignant diseases. Everyone’s act of kindness was received with genuine surprise, gratitude and most importantly, a smile, which means that the goal of the Kindness Campaign has undoubtedly been achieved. “Although sending a basket is a small gesture of kindness, it truly means the world to those who need it”, writes one of the participants.

Although the program created by Environmental Litigation Group, P.C. has provided a lot of cancer patients with useful gifts, healthy food and a little emotional support, the Kindness Campaign is still ongoing and you, too, can participate. You can help a person struggling with cancer even if you do not personally know them, as one of the participants believes, another participant said: “Even if you don’t personally know a patient, you can participate in this cancer awareness and kindness campaign by making a gift basket to bring to a local hospital. Nothing compares to being able to brighten someone’s day with a little gesture to show that you care”. All you have to do is select several practical items to include in your gift basket and then bring it to one of the hospitals in your area. Alternatively, you can cook a delicious meal using the suggestions on the campaign’s page.
