Between working and taking care of chores at home, it can seem like there is very little time to spend with your family. It’s all too easy to get lost in the chaos of everyday life, and forget how important family time actually is. Your kids may seem happy enough playing computer games, but their development could be adversely affected, if you do not spend enough time with them.
The good news is that you can make sure you have enough time with your family by getting your kids to help out with the home projects that need to be completed. Make it a fun experience and most kids will love being involved.
Creating a themed room for your kids
If your kids’ room is in need of redecorating, why no consider creating a themed space for them to enjoy. Having them there helping you out means that you can encourage them to provide ideas, or help with the painting, depending on how old your kids are. Your kids may love the idea of an animal mural, or they may want a princess tent for them to sleep in. Getting the whole family involved in the designing and decorating is a fun way of getting the job done.
Creating a fairy garden in your outside space
The fairies need somewhere to stay when they come into your garden. The branches of bushes and shrubs make an ideal spot to hang wooden homes, or to create flower designs, to attract the little visitors. For an extra touch of creativity, why not ask your kids to write stories about the fairies, and how they will live in their new home.
Cleaning and tidying to give your home curb appeal
If the front of your home is full of fallen leaves, the windows need cleaning or the driveway needs to be washed, why not set aside a few hours and turn the tasks into fun family time. You can even allow a small water fight if the weather is warm enough, as long as all of the tasks are completed by the end of the allocated time. Once the driveway is clean, you may want to think about concrete coating, so that it’s easy to maintain in the future.
Sorting out the loft space
How long is it since you last ventured into the loft? For many people it’s months, or even years, between visits. If the weather is bad, why not enlist the help of your kids, to get rid of everything you do not need, once and for all. Separate items out into what needs to be kept, what can be donated, what can be sold and what needs to be thrown away. One thing that it’s worth remembering is that your kids may suddenly become very attached to a toy that they have not actually seen for years. You may need to be quite strict about getting rid of things.
Using your creativity to design a feature wall
Creating a feature wall in your home can be an excellent idea. It’s a way of adding some personality to a property while still maintaining practical decoration throughout. Your kids can also add their personality to the wall, by creating pictures that can be hung there. It’s a unique form of decoration that makes your home different from all others.
If you ever feel as though you are missing out on time spent with your family, think about using some of our ideas. Or, you may have another home project that everyone can help out with.
