Holiday season will soon be upon us and whilst many will be hopping on a plane and heading abroad, there is a growing number who prefer to take their summer holiday here in the UK. Stunning countryside and vibrant cities are abounding in the UK and here we look at some destinations that are also accessible for those of us who use mobility vehicles.

The Lake District

Recently awarded World Heritage status, many would argue that the Lake District is one of the most wonderful areas in the UK. As well as its outstanding natural beauty, however, the Lake District has a thriving towns and villages and has earned notoriety as a centre for gastronomic excellence.

People who use mobility solutions to get around will be pleased to hear that the Lake District is more than accessible and that there are many places to stay that are wheelchair and mobility scooter friendly. Meadowcroft Country Guest House, for example, lies around 2 miles outside of Windermere and offers a range of features to help individuals with mobility issues.

Cornwall

Cornwall also has many attractions that are mobility friendly and the must-see Eden Project is one such attraction. The project is home to the largest captive rainforest and has exquisite gardens to explore, all housed in giant Biomes.

There are many of accessible places to stay in Cornwall, such as St Michaels Hotel and Spa in Falmouth that has been designed to cater for the needs of all, boasting features like roll-in wet rooms and support rails.

London

If a city break is what you are looking for, then London has to be among the UKs top choices. Accessible attractions include the Tate Modern gallery which is home to thousands of pieces of the world’s finest examples of contemporary art.

Accessible accommodation is plentiful and includes the Copthorne Tara Hotel in Kensington, a huge 4 star hotel with a range of mobile-friendly rooms, facilities and equipment on offer. The hotel also has express check in, a fitness centre, complimentary Wi-Fi and it is outside of the congestion zone, so you won’t have to pay extra to get to it.

Wales

Wales is enjoying somewhat of a renaissance, with people flocking there both to live and to holiday. The sleepy seaside village of Aberdaron is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the best of what Wales has to offer, including great seafood and a lovely beach.

Close by is Manaros, a luxury accommodation that is accessible and that as well as being a fantastic house, also offers a range of activity packages for all to enjoy. It is a single storey accommodation and is just around a 3 minute walk from the village.

So, as you can see the UK is accessible, open for business and no matter what type of holiday or break you are looking for it can accommodate very nicely.
