  1. Good morning,

Thank you for your inclusion of Lowndes Grove in your Top 5 U.S. Cities That Are Perfect For Your Dream Destination Wedding article. I’m reaching out on behalf of Lowndes Grove’s Patrick Properties Hospitality Group team to ask if you can please remove the word ‘plantation’ in your article. We completed an exhaustive historical audit with a well-respected historian, and to our knowledge, from previous extensive research and from what we’ve learned from the historian in his own research, Lowndes Grove was never a working agricultural plantation, but rather, it was a ‘country seat’ – a personal estate filled with more trees & gardens than working fields with cash crops. Lowndes Grove’s main house was constructed in 1786, however The River House, which is located on the grounds behind Lowndes Grove, was not built until the 1920s.

    Thanks!
    Sallie
