It is getting close to the big day and you still have lots of questions. The bad news is that some things just have to be experienced to be understood. No one can answer all of the good questions you have about a wedding. The good news is that despite all of your uncertainty, everything is most likely going to be alright. Weddings happen everyday and the vast majority of them go off without a hitch.
As for the rest, your wedding planner will be able to cover the biggies because they do this all day, everyday. There is almost nothing you can bring up that they haven’t dealt with. So lean on them for information. That said, there are some things they will have to research before providing a good answer. Be sure to give them a list of questions up front, with plenty of time for them to get back to you. Here are a few questions you should include:
What Kind of Fireworks Can You Bring?
Sparklers for wedding events are becoming more popular all the time. You don’t want to be the only one in your friend circle who missed out on the fun. However, you need to know if it is something the venue allows, the limits, and the safety measures you will need to employ. Your wedding planner should be able to answer these questions. Furthermore, they might even provide these services upon request. You don’t have to figure it all out by yourself.
Can You Book the Venue for Other Types of Events?
Lots of new parents enjoy events like baby showers and gender reveal parties. The good news is that there is no end to great gender reveal ideas and baby shower themes. The bad news is that not every venue will support every great idea. If you love your wedding venue and find that it would be perfect for your other celebrations, you will want to be sure it can be booked for all the other events you have planned.
Is There a Contingency Plan for a Power Outage?
In some parts of the world, weather can be a factor around which it can be difficult to plan. Be sure to ask your wedding planner if the venue for the big day has a backup plan for a temporary power outage. This is especially important if you are having that wedding in what is traditionally a storm season.
You can’t schedule the weather. But you can plan for what to do if the weather causes a power outage. A strong enough wind and a weak enough tree can bring down power lines and interrupt services. A venue with a backup generator can make all the difference.
That is not the only potential problem that could use a contingency. You should never completely depend on the wifi at any venue. Bad things happen to good wifi signals. If your plans include live-streaming the ceremony and tweeting out pictures of important things as they happen, you should be sure to carry your own hotspot. Weddings are made up of little moments. And you don’t want to miss any of them due to weather and unexpected outages.
Are Pets Allowed?
Pets are a big part of our lives. For some, pets are a big part of the wedding plans as well. If that is the case for you, don’t just assume that it is okay to bring your furry friend to the party. If pets are not allowed and you have a large guest list, be sure to mention that on the invitation or followup material.
Is Event Insurance Available?
If 2022 taught us anything, it is that the future is unpredictable. Weddings are often planned a year in advance. The more sought after the venue, the further in advance you have to book. A low price is not useful if you have to postpone the occasion and can’t get a refund. You need event insurance in the same way you need travel insurance. Never assume that this is included. Be sure to ask your event planner before putting down your deposit.
You will come up with a thousand questions for your wedding planner. Just make sure you ask the most important questions and you can feel confident that everything is going to be alright.
