With spas around the country closing due to the Covid-19 pandemic, many people are looking for ways to recreate the perfect spa experience at home. While you may not have access to a sauna in your home or indeed an experienced masseuse, there are a number of treatments that you can perform at home using products purchased online. Better yet, after a day of pampering, you’ll feel much more refreshed and rejuvenated. Want to get started? Keep reading for our tips that will help ensure the perfect DIY spa day.
1. Stage the Space
Okay, so you can’t visit a gorgeous spa surrounded by perfectly manicured gardens, but you can make your own home feel like a luxurious beauty resort. To start with, you’ll want to decide on a couple of rooms where you will perform the treatments. We advise the bedroom and the bathroom which has a movable ice bath that you can also buy at shop ice baths for sale; even better if you have an en-suite! Next, you’ll want to clear away any clutter, tidy and hoover the space, and light a few aromatherapy candles to get you in the mood. Play some soothing music, such as the sound of jungle crickets or ocean waves, and pour yourself a glass of ice-cold water with a slice of lemon or cucumber on the side. Dress in a comfy robe and lay your softest towels to one side.
2. Personalize Your Spa Session
When you visit a spa in person, you’re presented with dozens of treatments. At home, you can choose whichever treatments you want. Maybe you want to start with a clay mask facial, or maybe a hot bubble bath is more your thing. Whether you want to read a book during your treatments or doodle in a journal, the choice is completely yours. You can adapt your schedule to your exact tastes, mood, and feelings in the moment. Don’t limit yourself; leave some room for adaptation.
3. Work in Some Classics
If you want to spend a whole day at your DIY spa, there are a number of great treatments we recommend, including:
- Deep conditioner – Hair masks can be purchased for all hair types, so choose one that suits your hair and slather it on. Use a wide-tooth comb to distribute the conditioner throughout your hair, and then cover with a cap while you relax.
- Lip treatments – Designed to exfoliate and rehydrate your lips, lip treatments can also help to repair and rejuvenate the skin. This mango lip scrub, for example, not only smells incredible but comes with a range of beauty benefits that you’re sure to love.
- Disposable eye mask – If you’ve been struggling to sleep, or simply just want to rejuvenate your eyes, a disposable eye mask is a great option. Find one containing both cucumber and caffeine for a refreshing, yet revitalizing, boost.
- Face mask – No spa day would be complete without a face mask. Before purchasing one, consider your skin type. There are masks for dry skin, normal skin, and skin prone to blemishes.
- Mani Pedi – Before jumping in the tub, take some time to file and shape your fingernails and toenails. Massage your cuticles using a shea butter cream and add some paint to your nails too if you want to. You could even give yourself a hand or foot massage!
4. Rinse, Shower and Moisturize
At the end of your spa day, it’s a good idea to take a shower to rinse off the treatments you’ve applied and moisturize your skin. This will help keep it hydrated and healthy. The Body Shop sells some gorgeous body butter in fruity scents that are ideal here.
Hopefully, you will feel pampered and happy at the end of your spa day. Blow out the candles, keep away from your digital devices, and sink into your sheets. We hope you have a blissful night’s sleep.
