The stunning city of Prague, located in the Czech Republic, is without a doubt a popular destination amongst backpackers. If you’re travelling on a budget, Prague has an array of hostels on offer, with something to suit every type of backpacker. Here are some of the best.
- Sir Toby’s Hostel
Sir Toby’s is a unique hostel, located in Holešovice, an urban town in the north of Prague. The area is known for its eclectic offerings of bars, restaurants, and theatres, and is just a short distance from some of Prague’s major tourist attractions, making it a prime location.
The hostel hosts activities for guests on a daily basis, as well as a free barbeque once a week to encourage solo travellers to mingle with each other. It’s ideal if you hope to meet like-minded individuals throughout your travels, and gives you a safe space to do so.
Sir Toby’s hostel has a mixture of dorms and private rooms and you can book depending on your preference. There are fifteen private rooms in total, each accommodating up to 3 people. The private rooms are ideal for those travelling with their significant other, or with a group and prefer to have some privacy. There are twelve dorms, each which accommodate a number of people. As the cheaper option, dorms are most suitable for those on a budget.
- Hostel Elf
Hostel Elf is one of Prague’s first ever hostels, built around 20 years ago. The low prices of this hostel draws many backpackers to stay here, which means it can book up fairly quickly.
Hostel Elf is also named as one of Prague’s best party hostels, and it certainly lives up to its title. There’s a range of events that happen at Elf every night of the week to encourage travellers to mingle and have great time. The hostel itself is well maintained, with a clean and tidy exterior and interior (which can be rare for a known party hostel!) Hostel Elf also offers a free breakfast with your booking, as well as free tea and coffee every day of your stay.
- MeetMe23
If you’re wanting to stay somewhere stylish but affordable, MeetMe23 is just that. It is situated in Prague’s Old Town, a prime location that is home to many of Prague’s famous landmarks. You’ll also be in a short walking distance of the Czech National Museum.
This hostel is relatively new, and you can see that from the moment you step through the door. Everything about it is current and up to date. They even have a virtual reception! That’s right, you can use your smartphone to check in and out of the hostel and to gain access to your room. That being said, there is a rich history behind the building itself, built in the 19th century as a Neo-Renaissance house, and so is ideal for history and architecture buffs.
- Sophie’s Hostel
Sophie’s hostel is the ultimate chic hostel, located in Prague’s New Town. The building itself is actually two 19th century Art Nouveau buildings that have been renovated into one stylish, boutique hostel for backpackers who enjoy some comfort on their travels. The hostel is located just a short, five minute walk from the extremely popular Wenceslas Square.
There is a mixture of private rooms and dorms in Sophie’s Hotel, with six of the dorms being female only. With that in mind, this hostel is an ideal option for women who might be travelling solo and looking for accommodation where they can feel safe and comfortable.
Sophie’s Hostel is renowned for its outstanding customer service. They have a number of multilingual staff members, all willing to help out guests with any advice they might need.
