10 Habits of People Who Have Clean Homes

No one likes a messy home. But not everyone likes or can afford to spend hours every day for cleaning either. That is why we have for you some easy to adopt habits that will help you maintain a home that is neat and presentable all the time.

Keep Clothes Away Regularly

Having a heap of laundry to wash is not something that anyone looks forward to. That is why people with clean homes make it a point to wash one load of laundry a day.

To make the laundry easier, get a laundry bag for each room so that you won’t have to go around your home rummaging for dirty laundry. Next, put socks, towels and lingerie in separate mesh wash bags in the washing machine so that they don’t get misplaced. You could also buy some cloth organizers so that your closet is neatly organized and it is easier to find something when you need it.

Dont Hoard

Do you realize that a bulk of your time is spent organizing things that you hardly use? Just take a look around your home and you will find at least 10 items that you haven’t used in the past 6 months. So, get over your habit of hoarding and de-clutter your home and your life for good!

Invest in useful accessories

Do you find yourselves cleaning your home every week only to find that it has turned back in to the original mess in just a few days? The main reason behind this is that you don’t have the right accessories and furniture to keep your home organized. Buy some hooks and hang your kitchen towel and apron, tie up the cords, invest in baskets for toys, shoe racks and newspaper boxes so that you don’t have unpleasant things lurking out in your home. Get the right organizers and you are half way through your keeping your home in order.

Keep Things Back After Use

This of course is a habit that takes time to form. But once you get it in to yourself, it stays with you forever. Keeping things in its designated place not only makes your home cleaner, but also helps you to reduce stress and save time you would have otherwise spent searching for misplaced things.

Clean As You Go

It might be difficult to find dedicated time for cleaning your home. So, simply clean as you go. Every time you leave a room, just look around and see if there are any things that needs to be kept away or organized or thrown in to dust bin. Spending just two minutes this way is a lot more efficient than spending a few hours every week keeping all stuffs away.

Prioritize

Trying to clean the complete home in a go is exhausting and inefficient. So, plan and keep just 1 or 2 things to clean a day. This way, cleaning becomes a therapeutic experience giving you a break from other hectic activities.

Also, avoid obsessing over details that are rarely noticed and hard to clean like the empty space on top of the wardrobe or the drawers that are opened once in a blue moon. Rather, focus on heavy traffic areas that needs to be cleaned often.

Assign responsibilities

In most Indian homes, cleaning is mom’s job. This not only makes cleaning a tedious task, but also makes other members neglectful of their surroundings. Children brought up in such environment often grow up to become bratty adults and dreaded roommates. Hence, it is important to assign age appropriate responsibilities to all members of your family.

Invest in Good Cleaning Equipment

Having a good vacuum cleaner, mop, disinfectant, cleaners and other cleaning accessories saves a lot of time and helps effectively clean your home. Moreover, it makes cleaning a pleasant experience rather than a dreaded task.

Treat Stains in Time

Stains have to be cleaned quick. If they stay, they linger! So, keep a stain removal pen handy and wipe up the spills and treat stains quickly so that cleaning itself becomes a breeze.

Clean As You Cook

Cleaning dishes is an everyday task that no one likes. Rather than piling up on the utensils and dishes to be cleaned, clean as you cook. Limit the number of pots and pans you take so that you don’t pile up on dirty dishes. This way, by the time the dinner is ready, your kitchen will also be spick and span.

So, which of these habits do you think will make a major difference to your cleaning schedule? Or do you have any other tips to share? Do, let us know in the comments.
